A. Objectives
AeroSME is a joint activity between ASD, the AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe and the European Commission.

AeroSME is aimed at encouraging and supporting the participation of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in the EU Framework Programme of Research and Technological Development. It will facilitate the generation of proposals directed towards Thematic Priority "Aeronautics & Space" and other suitable project areas with SMEs in leading roles.

AeroSME is also designed to facilitate co-operation among SMEs, between SMEs and large companies, and with other aeronautics related bodies in order to improve SMEs’ position in the supply chain and networking opportunities. It will encourage multinational projects, which is a prerequisite for SME long-term competitiveness, and will be a central point of contact and information for aeronautics SMEs.

B. Services

32 countries participate in AeroSME: the 25 European Union member states, plus Bulgaria, Iceland, Israel, Norway, Romania, Switzerland, and Turkey.

The services are generally available and free of charge to all interested aeronautical SMEs in Europe regardless of any membership in the ASD partner organisations.

What services are available?

  • One of the main features of the project is the Partner database, aimed at supporting SMEs to find partners both for European RTD projects and joint commercial activities. Currently the AeroSME database contains information on more than 700 aeronautics related companies and organisations. The database is easily accessible via the web and receives a high visibility in the Aeronautics Industry and the European Commission, and can therefore serve very well as a networking and marketing platform. The database is free of charge - an SME can join the database simply by filling out the AeroSME Registration Form.
  • The AeroSME helpdesk informs and assists SMEs in addressing issues relating to the 7 th Framework Programme and facilitates networking activities.

An information letter is issued to provide SMEs with regular information on EU funded RTD project opportunities, AeroSME activities, other European Union initiatives and events. In addition to the AeroSME Newsletter the R&D Project Flash is created with the latest EC aeronautical related R&D projects. To subscribe to either or both newsletters click here.

Workshops are also organised in all the participating countries to raise SMEs awareness on EU funded RTD project opportunities and supply chain issues.
